Bridges
A Restorative Solution Using Existing Teeth
Dental bridges are a great way to replace missing teeth using your existing teeth to literally create a bridge to cross the gap in your smile. Bridges are made from gold, metal, alloys, or porcelain to ensure they are strong and durable.
The process begins by recontouring two of your existing teeth to create abutments, to provide a base where the bridge will be attached. Then a mold is taken and sent to a dental lab, which will create a bridge that will feel as close as possible to your natural teeth. The bridge consists of two crowns on either end, which are placed over the abutments, and a pontic, which is the new tooth that replaces your missing tooth.
While your permanent bridge is being constructed, patients will be fitted with a temporary bridge that will protect the abutments and the exposed gum, and cover over the missing tooth. Once the permanent bridge has been set, it may take a little getting used to, but after a few days, it will feel like you have your teeth back again.
