Fighting Infection Where it Starts
Gum disease, also known as “periodontitis” or “periodontal disease,” is the leading cause of tooth loss in American adults. Recent data even suggests it may be associated with health issues such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and preterm low birth-weight babies.
Regular brushing and flossing are not enough to treat gum disease. Patients require a thorough cleaning procedure known as scaling and root planing (SRP), and ARESTIN® (minocycline hydrochloride) Microspheres, 1 mg – a concentrated antibiotic powder. ARESTIN is placed inside infected periodontal pockets after the SRP procedure, to fight infectious bacteria and return the gums to full health.
